He’s a down-to-earth highland farmer. She’s the rebellious daughter of Hollywood royalty. They might seem like they’re from different worlds, but that won’t stop them from engaging in a marriage of convenience…
It’s been five years since Jared McCulloch’s grandfather Collum passed away and he inherited his farm in the Scottish Highlands. After his grandad saved him from his past life, Jared is determined to honor Collum’s legacy. But not only has a series of bad luck put him in danger of losing the farm, his estranged father is disputing the will. In a desperate situation, Jared realizes he’ll do just about anything to save the land.Even marrying Allegra Howard, a woman he’s avoided at all costs.A woman who tempts him beyond reason.
There’s only one place that makes Allegra Howard feel safe; one place that feeds her artist’s soul. Allegra wants to settle down in Scotland and expand her business. But there’s a hitch: immigration intends to return her to US soil.Panicked, Allegra finds the one person just as desperate as she is. The same person she’s lusted after for years. In exchange for marrying her, she’ll invest financially in Jared McCulloch’s farm.
However, living together only forces them to acknowledge their searing mutual attraction. And with it comes an undeniable emotional connection Jared’s not sure he’s ready for. Yet, blurring the lines of their arrangement is the least of his concerns when someone begins terrorizing the farm. Allegra and Jared came together to save what matters most and now that might just be each other. And unless they can figure out which of their pasts has returned to torment them, they could lose their chance at a real future together...

Samantha Young is one of my favorite authors. So every time one of her books is coming out I get so excited. She is definitely one of those authors I want to drop everything I’m doing for, so I can just start reading. And with ‘Skies Over Caledonia’ arriving on my kindle, this is exactly what happened.. and I dived right in.

In ‘Skies Over Caledonia’ we read the story of Jared McCulloch and Allegra Howard. Both characters we already know a little bit throughout the previous books in the series, but this time we finally really get to know them. Jared is working hard to make sure the farm his grandfather left him, is going to survive. But things are looking grim and he is losing money and workers fast.

Allegra has more money than she could possible ever need, just by simple being the daughter of her famous father. But the one thing she wants isn’t as easy to get. Allegra really wants to stay in Scotland, the only place she ever felt at home. But her work visa is expired and after renewing it for years it seems she isn’t going to get a new one this time. When Allegra unexpectedly hears of Jared’s struggles, she can’t get this idea out of her head. What if Jared and her get married? Jared would have access to money, and Allegra would be able to stay in Scotland. The only problem is, Allegra might have feelings for Jared and he seems to find her repulsive.

‘Skies Over Caledonia’ was one of my most anticipated books this month. After reading the previous book in the series, I couldn’t wait to read the story of Allegra and Jared. And although this book can easily be read as a standalone, I love that I already felt like I knew these two characters a bit. And coming back to the Scottish Highlands was a good as I’d come to expect from Samantha Young.

The chemistry between Allegra and Jared was amazing. And I found myself hooked to these pages right from the start. I loved how smitten Allegra was with Jared. And how enchanted Jared was with Allegra. Obviously they both didn’t know about the each others feelings, and it made for some fun and cute moments.

I loved reading about how Allegra and Jared slowly got to know each other better. We follow them while they are living on Jared’s farm, and it was a fun bonus to read about farm life. Allegra definitely was my favorite character. She was just so inspiring. Being an artist, not doing what other people wanted her too, but doing what she loved. I just loved her.

Next to some swoon-worthy romance we got some suspense as well. Although it wasn’t as prominent in this book as I’m used to in this series. But still, I enjoyed every page in this book. And I’m definitely not getting enough of spending time in these Scottish Highlands. The next book can’t come fast enough!
